Department Overview

Children's of Minnesota is the largest high-risk referral center in the Upper Midwest. The Neonatal Program is the fourth largest in the U.S and provides tertiary and quaternary care through our Level IV, Level III, II and step-down care units with a combined bed capacity of 171 between our Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses. Children's provides outreach neonatal coverage in several surrounding hospitals in the area. Services include consultation and assessment for emergency and continuing care of premature and critically-ill infants. Additionally we:

  • Have a team of over 20 neonatologists, over 60 neonatal nurse practitioners along with more than 500 nurses and support staff.
  • Have over 1,900 Neonatal visits per year.
  • Have a board-certified neonatologist on-site 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Have a program that delivers some of the highest survival and lowest complication rates in the world.
  • Provide transport care for more than 500 neonatal patients each year.

Position Summary
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner provides care in our Level II/III and IV NICU in collaboration with the neonatologists and/or Neonatal Fellows. The NNP maintains clinical skill proficiency and knowledge base, such as, but not limited to: intubations, PIV, Chest tubes, line placements. Must be able to perform transports as a back-up to the primary transport team. Delivery attendance for high-risk infants at a busy Mother Baby Center.
